Stag Hill Court

Stag Hill Court can be found just a couple of minutes from the Students’ Union, meaning it’s perfect for getting to and from Rubix for a night out.

What to expect

You will be sharing with nine other students in one flat. Stag Hill Court is made up of 43 terraced houses, and each house has a mix of single rooms and split-level duplex rooms where two people share the same room.

Location and transport

How do I get to Tesco and Surrey Sports Park from Stag Hill Court?

You can walk to Tesco in about 20 minutes via a shared pedestrian and cycle pathway. Surrey Sports Park is located on our Manor Park campus, which is about a 30-minute walk from the Stag Hill campus.

You can also ride the designated University bus routes (1 and 2) from Stag Hill to both Tesco and Manor Park.

The journey takes about seven minutes and buses run up to every 10 minutes through the University campuses on weekdays and every 15–20 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays. The night bus operates six nights per week, Monday to Saturday.

How do I get to Guildford town centre?

You can either walk 10 minutes into town or take any of the University bus routes which stop at the Friary Bus Station in town.

What facilities are nearby?

It’s a popular place to live due to being directly opposite the Students’ Union, but you can also find Hillside Coffee Shop and Food Court, our beautiful lake and Lakeside Coffee Shop and Restaurant almost on your doorstep. 

You can also find services and facilities such as a convenience store, a laundrette, the University GP and Centre for Wellbeing and other cafes and restaurants within a few minutes’ walk.

How do I read my address?

Reading your room number could be confusing when you first see it, but you will quickly learn what each of the letter and numbers mean.

How will I get my post?

All mail should have your full name, room and flat number, house name, court name and postcode, which is GU2 7JG.

Students living in Stag Hill Court can collect all parcels and letters from Central Distribution.

The opening hours for students to collect post and parcels from Central Distribution are:

  • Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm
  • Friday 8am to 6pm.

Bedroom and bathroom

What is provided in the bedrooms?

All rooms have either carpet or vinyl flooring with a bed, desk, chair, shelves, wardrobe, a mirror and curtains.

All rooms benefit from our free Residents Network (ResNet) service which provides fast and efficient broadband internet access.

Are the rooms en-suite?

There are no en-suite rooms at Stag Hill Court.

In shared flats there will be one shower with a basin and toilet per flat.

In budget rooms you will share a shower room, toilet and basin with one other room.

Kitchen

What is provided in the kitchen?

A fridge, freezer (or fridge-freezer combined), electric kettle, cooker, microwave, toaster, iron and ironing board are provided in each communal kitchen, but you must provide your own cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery.

How much cupboard space is there per person?

There is no reserved space, but there are two cupboards per person in the kitchen.

This is usually more than enough for most students, but if you need more space, you can talk to flatmates about sharing a shelf if needed.

How much fridge and freezer space is there per person?

There is no reserved space, but there are usually one or more shelves for each of the people living in the flat. You can talk to your flatmates about using up more space or specific fridge spaces.

Is there catering available?

All halls at Surrey are self-catered, but there are number of places around our campuses to get food and drink, and Guildford has an excellent range of bars, restaurants and cafes.
