Before you arrive
Discover how you can prepare for your new life as a student at the University of Surrey.
What you need to do before you arrive
All students are required to pre-register and set up their IT account. Don't forget to also organise your student finance.
Be prepared for study
There are a few things that you need to know before you join us in September.
This will ensure you are ready and know what to expect.
Make sure you know where you will be living and are prepared for moving in.
If you plan to live off campus, read our advice about renting privately from the University of Surrey Lettings (USL) team.
Advice for commuting students
Lots of students choose to stay at home and travel to the University for many reasons. Here’s some tips if you are considering this option:
- Join the Students’ Union’s Commuters Society to meet other commuting students.
- Check out the transport information on MySurrey for information about travelling to, from and around the University.
- We have lockers across campus which you can use to store belongings during the day.
- Don’t forget that you have the same access to all of our student services, clubs and societies as everyone else. Get to know your Students’ Union and drop into MySurrey Hive to meet our team.
